Songs about sex are a dime a dozen, and why not? Sex is a natural part of the human experience. Between consenting adults, sex can be an expression of strong attraction, part of having a good time, an eliminator of stress, and a way of showing the depth of one's love.
Sex has been around since the documentation of humans being on the face of the earth, and it is a heavy influencer in many aspects of human culture. It’s little wonder why there are songs from every genre about it. Not all songs about sex are created equal. Some easily come to mind and are common on many sex song playlists across YouTube, Spotify, and other music platforms.
With that said, we have put together a pretty sexy list of hit sex songs based on our analysis of such playlists across several websites. The messages vary, ranging from passionate encounters and mouth-watering flings to imaginary escapades and self-discovery episodes. Some also require a little decoding, wrapping raunchiness in seemingly innocent banter. Of course, although these are among the best songs with a sexual theme, there are many others that could have made our list.
So, are you ready to go on a ride with us?
In no particular order, here goes...
1. "Bed" by J. Holiday
Released in 2007, this R&B number is a sweltering and groovy trip detailing an encounter involving the most welcoming piece of furniture in any house.
2. “Love to Love You Baby” by Donna Summer
If you have ever heard Beyoncé's "Naughty Girl" and wondered why it sounded familiar (and why it sounds so hypnotic), it's because she borrowed a melody from this honey-infused hit by Donna Summer.
3. "Birthday Sex" by Jeremih
When Jeremih released this hit back in 2009, it is believed the track rivaled the original birthday song when it came to adults celebrating their special day.
4. "Need You Tonight" by INXS
Although it has a funky, upbeat tone that makes it easily fit in as a legit party song, this 1987 hit oozes immense sex appeal.
5. “Body Party” by Ciara
As a dancer of note, Ciara knows how to work her body...and, apparently, make it a party, according to the lyrics of this song.
6. “The Sweetest Taboo” by Sade
Taboo or not, Sade's soulful delivery of this song over a tantalizing arrangement reminiscent of a particular Marvin Gaye song, is almost sinfully good.
7. "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye
And here is the Marvin Gaye number mentioned above. Hands down, one of the best songs of Gaye's career, it remains a staple on numerous playlists decades later.
8. “Pull Up to the Bumper” by Grace Jones
Filled with sexual innuendos, Grace Jones has since insisted that her 1981 club banger is not about sex. Yeah, right!
9. "Sensual Seduction" by Snoop Dogg
In 2009, superstar rapper Snoop Dogg did the unthinkable when he decided to try his voice at singing a pop song. The end result was an auto-tune smash that seduced the general public and brought Snoop a new level of fame.
10. “I Want Your Sex” by George Michael
This 1987 jam by George Michael wasted little time in getting straight to the point.
